Amsterdam Tattoo Museum

L’Amsterdam Tattoo Museum è orgoglioso di annunciare la sua prima mostra itinerante che verrà presentata in occasione della Milano Tattoo Convention. Come prima cosa verranno messi in mostra esempi di Tattoo department occidentali, che includeranno old flash degli anni ’50-’70, stencil in acetato, bigliettini da visita etc… Insieme verrà presentato il primo libro pubblicato dal Museo: The Rich Mingins Photo Collection. E inoltre: fotografie, disegni e altri esempi di tatuaggi provenienti da tutto il mondo. Per coloro che ancora non lo sapessero, l’Amsterdam Tattoo Museum ha aperto i battenti lo scorso novembre. È il primo vero Museo dedicato al tatuaggio al mondo, copre una location di oltre 2000 mq e presenta manufatti e oggettistica dedicata al tatuaggio proveniente dai quattro angoli del globo. Tattoo machines, strumenti per dipingere, pelle umana tatuata, memorabilia appartenenti a tattoo artist del passato e molto altro è presentato nella parte dedicata alla collezione permanente. Al museo sono invitati inoltre i grandi maestri del tatuaggio viventi che oltre a tatuare nel tattoo shop all’interno del Museo, terranno conferenze, letture e seminari. L’Amsterdam Tattoo Museum include inoltre una vasta libreria aperta al pubblico, un book shop, un cafè e un tattoo parlour. È aperto 7 giorni su 7. Il team vi aspetta e vi dà il suo benvenuto!

 The Amsterdam Tattoo Museum

..is proud to announce that our first travelling exhibition will be held at the Milano Tattoo Convention. We will primarily be displaying examples of Western tattooing styles. This will include old flash from the 1950's to the 1970's, acetate stencils, business cards, etc. It will also be showcasing the first book published by the museum, The Rich Mingins Photo Collection. We will also be exhibiting photography, drawings and other examples of tattooing from around the world.For those who have not yet heard the news, The Amsterdam Tattoo Museum recently opened its doors last November. It is the first museum of its kind. Spread out over 2000m2 it showcases tattoo artifacts from all four corners of the world; everything from tattoo machines and instruments to paintings, tattooed human skin and personal belongings of past tattoo artists. It will host masters of this art from different parts of the world who will be tattooing as well as giving lectures and seminars. It also includes a vast library which will soon be open to the public, a book shop, cafe, and a fully operational tattoo parlour. We are open 7 days a week and hope to see you soon!

Appuntamento con la cultura

Anche quest’anno si rinnova l’appuntamento della Milano Tattoo Convention con la cultura. In programma durante le giornate di sabato e domenica quattro interessanti conferenze sulla storia e l’arte del tatuaggio in Oriente e in Occidente.

Sabato Il Tatuaggio religioso a cura di Luisa Gnecchi Ruscone e Gian Maurizio FercioniLa storia del tatuaggio legato alla cristianità con un approfondimento sulle radici che affondano nelle tradizioni culturali e nella storia del nostro Paese.Domenica Storia del tatuaggio Giapponese a cura di Anna Livia Carella, autrice del libro Il fuoco sulla pelle (Castelvecchi 2011)L’autrice affronta il tema della cultura dell’Horimono prtendo dal libro da lei scritto. Il Dragoa cura di Massimiliano "Crez" Freguja, Adrenalink Tattooing Marghera.Il tatuatore italiano, interprete dello stile giapponese, affronta uno dei soggetti più classici della tradizione del tatuaggio e ne svela tutti i significati ad esso riconducibili.

Tradizioni e simbologie nell’arte giapponese

a cura di Rossella Menegazzo, docente di Storia dell'arte giapponese, Università di Ca’ Foscari Venezia. Una lezione dedicata all'importanza dell'iconografia nell'arte del Sol Levante, con un particolare sguardo su tutti gli accostamenti e i significati che sfuggono all'occhio inesperto.

Appointment with culture

The Milan Tattoo Convention will this year feature its appointment with culture. On Saturday and Sunday four interesting conferences on the history and art of Eastern and Western tattooing will take place.

Saturday Religious tattoos By Luisa Gnecchi Ruscone and Gian Maurizio FercioniThis covers the history of tattoo art’s links to Christianity with particular focus on the roots which are deep within the cultural traditions and history of our country.

Sunday A history of Japanese tattoo art
By Anna Livia Carella, author of  Il fuoco sulla pelle (Castelvecchi 2011)The author addresses the theme of the Horimono culture, with references to her own book.
The Dragon   By  Massimiliano "Crez" Freguja, Adrenalink Tattooing, Marghera.The Italian tattoo artist and interpreter of Japanese style, tackles one of the classic subjects of traditional tattoo art, and explains its significance.Traditions and symbology in Japanese artBy Rossella Menegazzo, Professor of Japanese Art History at the Ca’ Foscari University in Venice.A lesson dedicated to the importance of iconography from the land of the Rising Sun, with particular attention to colour combinations and meanings that can elude the untrained eye.

HAND TATTOOS

Un progetto che coinvolge più di 70 artisti fra i più stimati ed apprezzati di tutto il mondo, ognuno col suo stile, ognuno con la sua fantasia.

La tematica è esplicita: l’interpretazione della parte del corpo che più usiamo e con cui più comunichiamo gestualmente: le mani.

Ad ogni artista è stato chiesto di sviluppare un artwork per due dorsi e due palmi, attraverso qualsiasi tecnica e qualsiasi modalità stilistica e ciò che ne è uscito è un insieme di idee strabilianti e originali in molteplici stili, dal tribale al tradizionale americano, dal giapponese classico al new school al chicano, senza tralasciare tutti quei grandi artisti la cui opera non è catalogabile in nessuna definizione... In mostra a Milano una selezione di lavori facenti parte di questo imponente progetto che ha visto la partecipazione di nomi di punta del tatuaggio internazionale.

HAND TATTOOS

The topic is pretty clear; the interpretation of the part of the body we use the most, including communication using gestures: our hands.

Each artist was asked to develop 2 pieces of artwork for the backs and palms of the hand, using any kind of technique and any style. The result was a collection of incredible and original ideas in an array of styles, from tribal to traditional American, from traditional Japanese to new school to Chicano, not forgetting all those great artists whose work doesn’t fit into any particular category…

A project that involves more than 70 of the most admired artists throughout the world, each with their own style and creativity. On show in Milan is a selection of work from this impressive project which sees the participation of some of the leading names in the international tattoo industry.

Latino Art Collection

Una mostra dedicata alla cultura latinoamericana e alla sua tradizione artistica. Una selezione di opere collezionate nel corso degli anni dal famoso fotografo Edgar Hoill, meglio conosciuto come OSOK ‘One Shot One Kill’, nei suoi numerosi viaggi nell’America Latina. Si intitola Latino Art Collection l’esposizione che in occasione della Milano Tattoo Convention presenterà al pubblico italiano opere e fotografie relative alla cultura dell’America Latina. I lavori sono tratti dalla imponente collezione unica e completa di dipinti, fotografie e disegni che presentano motivi di derivazione messicana, chicana, dell’antica popolazione Maya e Atzeca, nonché provenienti dalla street culture di oggi tra California, Messico e America latina. La mostra sarà accompagnata dal volume che presenta opere di artisti quali: Jack Rudy, Indio, Kiki Platas, Mr Lucky, Paco Arias, Yushi, Goethe, Krazy K, Chuey Quintanar, Luke Wessman, Nervio, Carlos Torres, Nikko Hurtado e molti altri.

Latino Art Collection

An exhibition dedicated to Latin American culture and its artistic tradition. It is a selection of works collected over the years by the renowned photographer Edgar Hoill, better known as OSOK ‘One Shot One Kill’, on his numerous travels throughout Latin America. The Latino Art Collection which is on show at the Milan Tattoo Convention will present to the Italian public works of art and photographs reflecting Latin American culture. The works are from an impressive and extensive collection of paintings, photographs and drawings and feature Mexican, Chicano, Mayan and Aztec motifs, as well as Californian, Mexican and Latin American street culture. The exhibition will be accompanied by the book which features works from artists such as, Jack Rudy, Indio, Kiki Platas, Mr. Lucky, Paco Arias, Yushi, Goethe, Krazy K, Chuey Quintanar, Luke Wessman, Nerves, Carlos Torres, Nikko Hurtado and many others.
